Inspired by the 100 Women Who Care movement in the USA, a group of women decided to bring the idea to Edmonton.
Our goal is simple: bring together 100-plus women in Edmonton who care about local community causes and are committed to charitable service.
Four times a year, we meet for an entertaining evening and jointly vote for a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Three candidates are nominated ahead of time. Each woman writes a $100 cheque, receives her voting ballot and watches how her $100 donation to the winning organization along with the rest of the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000 or more donation for one local charity.
With four meetings a year and 100% honored pledges, we can witness how $40,000 or more can improve the lives of our neighbours when placed in the hands of deserving grassroots agencies working to serve the Edmonton community.
Our organizing committee includes the following ladies from the Edmonton area: Stanice Markham, Ingrid Schifer, Bonnie Powers, Stephanie Gillis-Paulgaard and Sunshine Pawchuk.
